The past month or so has seen the fall of the US as a reliable business partner and the end of the perception that it is a trustworthy ally.
The current American administration has completely reversed the country’s world view, bringing it into line with that of countries like Russia and North Korea, thus bringing turmoil to NATO, an organisation that was established to guarantee peace and to which it belongs.
Not content with this fact, it has repeatedly attacked, insulted, berated and dismissed its core allies — Canada and the EU — and antagonised its main trade partner — China.
All of this done in the name of an “America First” rhetoric — I won’t grace it with the distinction of being an ideology on principle — which really means “Amerika gegen alles” — America against everybody, or, America alone.
Not only has the US embarked into an isolationist pipe dream which in today’s economic environment is unfeasible but also self-harming; it has also proceeded to dismantle the government in the name of a not-better specified “efficiency” — putting paid to protections to which all Americans are entitled to: Medicaid, Medicare, a federal system to care for war veterans, etc.
It is obvious that the current American administration has embarked in the destruction of the American government for the sake of its destruction, against the best interests of its constituents, to weaken the country and make it, ironically, less great, less relevant, less important, and less respected.
Everything about the current American administration is a lie. It is a fraud.
Since this is the second time that the Americans have voted for such a leader, I can only take notice that it is their will, and so my most sincere wish to them is, “I sincerely hope you get everything you voted for.”
This is especially directed to those who, believing that these actions would not target them, are now finding out that, indeed, you are also being targeted.
My words to those people are “Too bad.”
You ignored the warnings. You ignored everything that pointed out to what is going on today in the case that the current US administration got into power.
Now it is happening, so… enjoy the bonfire you have made of your country.
In the not so distant future, after those countries who have been US friends, and those among you with clarity, repeatedly said “the country will fall off the cliff of irrelevance,” and after you chose to step on the throttle towards that cliff, it will come to pass that the US will reach it, and teeter on its edge, grasping.
What it richly deserves is for its friends to stay there, with arms crossed, and as the US grip fails and it falls into the abyss of the decayed global powers, its friends will say “We told you so,” and walk away, to seek the protection of China, or to build something that does not include the US in their political and strategic calculations.
The US has betrayed its allies, and sided with its enemies.
This, we will not forget… Or forgive.

I wish I could say you were wrong about any of it. 🙁 The worst part is that much of the US feels the same as you, but we’re powerless to do anything about it.
